Ironhorse Trailers

Before there was an Ironhorse Trailer, there was an Eagle Sport Carrier, the first trailer we produced and sold. And, before there was an Eagle Sport Carrier, there was an Excalibur Sport Carrier™. Although the Excalibur was the first retro styled aerodynamic fiberglass motorcycle transporter to hit the market, it didn't last long--in Wisconsin or in Kentucky. The demise of both efforts left a big hole in the market--a hole soon to be filled by the Eagle Sport Carrier.

The Eagle Sport Carrier one-upped the Excalibur by capturing much of its look and eliminating its worst deficiencies. Unfortunately, it was too tall to fit under a standard seven foot garage door. That deficiency is what prompted the design and development of the Ironhorse Trailer "garageable" flip tops. One and two bike Ironhorse flip top trailers were introduced in early 2005, approved for patents in early 2007, and have been continuously improving since their introduction.

As a result, you can retrieve your Ironhorse Flip Top from your garage, raise the top, stand fully upright while you load your bike(s), toss in several hundred pounds of your other biker gear, tow your Ironhorse Trailer hundreds of miles through wind and rain with your family auto, and arrive with a few more bucks in your pocket because you haven't spent all your money on gas and less tired because you haven't been buffeted all over the road.

Despite the fact that Ironhorse Trailers use only one Dexter E-Z Lube Torflex axle, it's been demonstrated time and again that they provide a smoother ride than tandem leaf-spring axles. That's because when either wheel of a straight leaf spring axle hits a bump, the whole axle moves up and down. By contrast, the wheels on a Torflex axle are mounted on trailing arms and move up and down independent of each other and the axle, which is bolted to the frame. The clincher is that while the rubber torsion bars in the Torflex axle have both spring and shock absorbing properties, leaf springs provide only springing. So the slightest bump sets off a bouncing motion that's slow to stop.

The aerodynamic nature and light weight of Ironhorse Trailers combine to let you cruise as fast or slow as you want to go. Their sleek lines are accented by clear-coated aluminum wheels whose design is compatible with the multi-spoke pattern common on contemporary cars and SUVS, and a long lasting stainless steel tailgate handle and lock. The fiberglass unibody construction and welded rectangular steel tube frame make Ironhorse Trailers among the sturdiest bike haulers on the market. All external lights are LED's and each trailer is equipped with either an industry-standard four-pin (without brakes) or seven-pin (with brakes) connector. Complete with a swivel tongue jack, new high capacity trailer tires and rear stabilizers, you won't find a higher quality trailer anywhere.
